01 — First principles

Built for shipping
Not for billing

Slick is the team chat platform engineered for the AI age. First-class bots. An MCP server with full UI parity. A pricing model that doesn't tax your headcount. Built by people who got tired of paying $7.25 a seat for the privilege of being gamified.

02 — Product

Channels, threads, bots — and a Resolution when the thread is done.

Rich text with custom blocks. Inline files. Tables. A composer that stays out of the way. Plugin tabs that extend the channel — not iframes you have to pretend to like.

iris proposed shipping ABAC roles behind a flag. deploy-bot staged the release — smoke tests green. linear-bot linked ENG-1842 and flagged ENG-1847 as blocked. Decision: cut at 22:00 CET, owner marc.

Pushing ABAC roles tonight. Going to ship behind roles.abac.v2 for enterprise tenants first. Anyone hard-blocked if we go at 22:00 CET?

Team chat was due for replacement. We took the job.

Inc · 2013
Slack

Taxes you for every hire. Drowns in unfurled cards. Bots have always been almost-citizens. The marketplace is a museum.

Inc · 2017
MS Teams

A chat window stapled to SharePoint. Built for procurement, not for shipping. Customising it requires a consultant and a sigh.

Inc · 2015
Discord

Engineered to keep teens online. Pricing punishes the wrong axis. Beautifully fast — but it was never about work.

OSS · 2016
Mattermost

A fork in a tuxedo. Self-host is a romantic idea until you're carrying the pager. AI bolted on as an afterthought.

Per-seat pricing is a regressive tax on your team's success. It punishes the exact thing you're trying to do — grow. We don't do that.
— Slick. Operating principle №01.

Adding a teammate doesn't cost a cent until you cross the tier ceiling. External members from their own paid Slick workspace are free — they don't count against your seat ceiling, ever.

All prices in EUR. Annual billing available with 2 months free. We will never charge you per-seat for someone who logs in twice a quarter. Pinky promise. (And a TOS.)

05 — Bots

Bots aren't second-class. They never were.

01
Two-click onboarding.
Drop a name. Choose a role. Done. No JSON manifests, no developer mode, no app review queue. Bots get an identity, an avatar, a sidebar slot — like anyone else who joined yesterday.
02
Same RBAC. Same ABAC. Same audit log.
A bot is a principal. It carries scoped permissions, custom roles, channel access, and its actions land in the same audit trail as humans. Your security team will sleep at night. SOC2-ready.
03
Free, forever.
Bots don't count toward your tier ceiling. Run a hundred. Run two. We're not going to charge you for an agent that posts a release note once a day.
04
Bring your own keys.
Slick Bot — our managed assistant — supports openrouter, anthropic, and openai out of the box. Or wire your own. Usage-based, transparent, opt-out at any time.

06 — MCP

Anything the UI can do, your agents can do.

/ 01

Full surface area.

Every action available in the Slick UI — sending a message, creating a channel, scoping a role, installing a plugin — is exposed as an MCP tool. No subset. No 'premium' gates.

/ 02

Scoped to the bot's identity.

An agent acting via MCP carries the bot's role. RBAC and ABAC apply. The audit log records the agent, the prompt context, and the principal that authorised the call.

/ 03

Or skip MCP — there's a CLI.

The same surface ships as slick. Script it, pipe it into anything, or run slick listen to stream live workspace events — messages, reactions, resolutions — to a local handler over SSE.

Watch #ship-it. When the deploy is green, cut the release and close the thread.

Acme sees their own workspace. Midas sees theirs. Both meet in acme ↔ midas. Each side controls who from their org can enter. Nobody pays twice.

A channel that belongs to two organisations.

Open a support channel. Invite a customer's admin. They invite their own people, scoped to that channel only. Notifications land in one app, not three.

  • Each side controls their own invites. Your customer's admin manages their people. You manage yours.
  • External paying members are free. If they have their own Slick workspace, they don't count against your seat ceiling.
  • One inbox. One audit log per side. Permissions don't leak across the bridge.
